Fusion Energy APPG Christmas Reception

On Monday 2nd December, the Fusion Energy APPG hosted its Christmas Reception in Parliament. It was a fantastic event and a great opportunity to celebrate developments in fusion in 2024 and look ahead to what’s needed from policymakers in 2025.

Speakers included:

  • Bill Esterson MP, Chair of the Energy Security and Net Zero Select Committee
  • Tim Bestwick, Chief Development Officer at UKAEA,
  • James Naish MP, Chair of the Fusion Energy APPG

Topics covered included the importance of fusion being part of the government’s upcoming Industrial Strategy and how fusion technology is already boosting economic growth through its applications in other sectors, such as healthcare and transport.

In the new year, the APPG will be organising further events aimed at unpacking how Parliamentarians can support fusion technology in its journey to commercialisation and demonstrating fusion’s role in driving progress towards the government’s energy and growth ambitions.
